Assistive technology is a term that includes assistive technology, adaptive technology or adaptive devices, and rehabilitative devices specifically for people with disabilities. It may also include the process used in selecting, locating, and using them.
Assistive technology promotes greater independence by enabling people to perform tasks that they were formerly unable to accomplish, or had great difficulty accomplishing, by using technology.
Devices can typically include:
- Input devices – special keyboards, mice, switches etc.
- Communication devices
- Visual enhancement devices
- Hearing enhancement equipment
- Mobility aids
- Memory and cognition aids
Whatever your difficulty, whether it may be reduced motor skills, audio or visual impairment, mobility issues or lapses of memory or concentration, progressive or short term rehabilitation, we will probably know (or will determine) the right technology to improve your ‘user experience’.
Adapt-IT consultants have considerable expertise in the technology products available for individual solutions. We can advise and, if required, procure and help train you in the specific areas required.
